Heather (Calluna vulgaris – in Polish: wrzos) is a small perennial shrub from the Ericaceae Family. It is the true Heather of Europe. It likes sunny locations or moderate shade. This shrub is common in all Polish mountains. It often dominates moorland habitats, peat bogs and open pine forests. It blooms from August to October. Photo taken on the slope of Mount Giewont.
