Hell Roaring Lake Below the Finger- this is where you leave the trail and use a climbers trail to approach the Peak. One dry December day I made it up to the lake and it was mostly frozen except the edges. A big wind was blowing down off the mountains and the wind was going under the ice at one end of the lake and thundering under the ice to other side of the lake where I was was. The sound was like a sonic boom and I'v never experienced such a wild and loud natural phenomenon!
