Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Carlsbad Caverns National Park

We visited this US park located in New Mexico on May 5 in 2001. Nearly 400,000 bats live in Carlsbad Caverns in the summer. In the evening we waited for the outflight of the bats ,but unfortunately we did not get lucky to see any.

Re: Is that the entrance behind you?

Thank you. Yes, that is the entrance behind us. I don't know its exact measurements , but it is large.
The Big Room (Cave), which is the main attraction of the park is about 4,000 feet long ( 30 football fields ), 625 feet wide, and 255 feet high at the highest point.

Brings back memories!

I remember sitting in that very same amphitheater as a little kid, watching a ranger presentation. If I remember correctly we did get to see some bats fly out of the cave at dusk. Carlsbad is a pretty awesome place!
