Here's a snapshot of some forest just below the Cuyamaca Peak summit. The photo was taken on 10/30/2005, two years after the Cedar Fire. Unfortunately, the most of the coniferous forest elsewhere in the park did not fare nearly as well. The surviving old-growth forest near the summit was a nice suprise, however -- and there's enough left to make even a post-fire Cuyamaca Peak hike very worthwhile.
