"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Herzog Ernst, End of July 1988 and August 2006In 1988 I did the entire Pröllweg from the Niedersachsenhaus to the Schareck in glorious weather. I was in awe at the sheer beauty of this trail with an ever-increasing panorama over the entire Salzburger Land! In 2006, I went up to Niedersachsenhaus from the Nassfeld, stayed over night there, went up the next morning as far as the Herzog Ernst (which one can hardly call a summit; it's more something of a corner-stone where Pongau, Pinzgau and Carinthia meet), then down to the Naturfreundehaus Neubau, and that same afternoon I went up Hoher Sonnblick. Whew!
