Hiking to the Trailhead

Our guidebooks said that the trailhead for Jumbo Pass was accessible by car. We discovered otherwise with a creek crossing the road about 3 km from the trailhead. After backtracking to make sure we were on the right road and some discussion, we just decided to start hiking from the nearest place we could park to the creek that crossed the road - about another 1.5 km further away. In the end, we never made it up to the pass, but we definitely got a good taste of how beautiful the area is. Photo by Laszlo Hulicsko, October 12, 2008
