Hoher Riffler panorama view from the SW
Panorama view of Hoher Riffler down its SW ridge,
- also part of the 40km long Tuxer hauptkamm.
At the bottom, Friesenberg lake, the Friesenberghaus hut
as well the Riffler route over south ridge can be seen.
Riffler's satellite peak Peterskoepfl shows almost vertical above the hut.
During the WWII,
Friesenberghaus was the only hut inside the
3rd Reich wardened by Jews.
Sometimes hut visitors ascend Peterskoepfl,
as the summit is littered with stone cairns,
commemorating victims of Holocaust.
Further in the background there's Venediger group
and one step further back Grossglockner can be spotted.
Down in the righthand mist are the
lateral valleys of the Zillertaler Hauptkamm (Zillertal Alps principal ridge)
- Zemmgrund, Gunggl, Floitengrund and so on
