Hoosier Hill - Highpoint #2  Sucess!

Highpoint #2 in our home state was super easy to get to. Google will take you there accurately. There's a register here as well. We only wish we would have brought a picnic lunch to enjoy there.

Let's go Blues!  Sucess!

On my way to watch a "Thanksgiving-eve" Blues game in Columbus back in 2006, I bagged my first non-MO high point at Hoosier Hill.

1 of 2  Sucess!

We made a 14.5 hour 725 mile round trip from Illinois to bag this and Campbell Hill today. Though we were not the first to crest the peak for this day. The mosquitoes took a few minutes to find us, but we got in a some pictures and headed off to the next leg of our journey before volunteering too much blood. Road signs for the highpoint confirmed what our Google girlfriend was telling us. The weather was fantastic for this journey.

Very nicely kept.  Sucess!

HP#3. This highpoint is in the middle of nowhere very close to the Ohio State line near Darke County. It is in the middle of a very large farm inside a small grove of trees on a slightly elevated knoll. We read that it is privately owned and the owners are happy to have visitors. It is only about 50 feet off of the road. We were uncertain about the parking situation because the ground was snow covered. Inside the knoll was a picnic table, park bench, fire ring, large engraved stone and mailbox that contains the registration notebook and keepsake visitor card. Very clean and well kept.

#34  Sucess!

3rd of 4 HP trip.
Stayed in Greenville and up to hit this one before driving all the way to Illinois HP. Props to Indiana for taking good care of the simple HP here in a little wooded area amongst farms and a few houses near by. Always nice to see effort put into things like this.

HP#3  Sucess!

Nice little plot of forest in the middle of some fun farm roads. Not really the "feel" of a highpoint, but a nice little spot in the woods with a fire pit and sponsored bench.

Number 11  Sucess!

My 11th highpoint, I think. We drove here from Eldora Speedway after a race. Met up with some locals who were surprised is was the high point. It is not the most apparent thing when driving down the road, but would be a great spot for a break if you're driving in the area.

U.S. Highpoint #8 - Hoosier Hill  Sucess!

Please read my October 4, 2016 Climber's Log Post for Campbell Hill to appreciate this post.

I attempted to go to Hoosier Hill on October 5, but after getting lost for more than three hours, and my level of frustration from the day before, I decided to call it quits. I was planning to head home the next day not knowing what tomorrow would bring. After sleeping on my situation and a discussion with my wife, I went and reserved an additional night at the campground.

I was committed to not returning to the campground without finding Hoosier Hill; and I did!

Hoosier Hill  Sucess!

We left my cousin's place in Columbus and were heading out to Denver and South Dakota for a vacation and to see America. This was our second High Point of the trip out of five. Next stop, St. Louis for BBQ and to see the Arch.
