CMC hike. We alternated between hiking on the mining roads and the ridge separating Horseshoe Gulch and Fourmile Creek. The weather was almost perfect. It was pretty windy at the Horseshoe/Peerless saddle, and we had a few drops of rain, but that was all. There was only one other hiker with his dog on Horseshoe. Lots of people were headed up Sherman. Once we were done on Horseshoe, we headed on over to Peerless Mountain.

whiteout
and then sunny by Peerless and Sheridan. Went up the Boudoir Couloir with a friendly bunch from the CMC. Was actually underwhelmed by the couloir itself, but had a fine time all around.

Training climb with my dogs! Great views of Elbert and Massive all the way up, and good views of the cirque from the top!

From Sheridan
Great day on top! Just enough wind to keep the sun from becoming too hot. Snow was still hard and storms were about 90-120 minutes to the west. Good day.

3 More 13ers off the list
Made a figure 8 of Horseshoe, Finnback Knob and Peerless Mountain. That brings me 3 summits closer to finishing off the most awful and charmless mountain range in the history of this planet.

Fourmile Creek
Good, God! Sustained 20mph winds with gusts up around 45-48mph up on the ridge. Air temps in the mid 20's. Don't want to know what the wind chill was. I got knocked down a few times, on a snow slope that was very alarming!
Hiked this with 2 other friends. 7.5 hours. The cirque is amazing!

Came in from Weston Pass
Climbed coming from Weston Pass. Gained ~1700 ft. in first 1.25 mi from TH to Ptarmigan Peak ~13,800. Continued along ridge to Horsehoe. Didn't see a soul all day. Caught some elk that had two predators stalking (Mtn. Lion?). Scrambled 3 miles of rock falls on the way back down. Bad idea. There was literally no trail to follow from Weston Pass, but all is over treeline, so peaks were simple to find. 99% free of snow.

Fourmile Creek
Some drifts still on the road but still an enjoyable hike. The wind really picked up once on top of the ridge but died down a bit on the summit. I'd been wanting to do this one for a while. I'll have to come back and do the couloir sometime.
Shanahan96 and I climbed Boudoir Couloir, great climb. It was pretty windy up top so we didn't complete the ridge traverse we had hoped, but a good day none the less. Next time I'm bringing my skis!

Definitely a memorable trip. Had a great time with Joe, John and Stuart. The winds were ferocious, but the blowing snow and chilly temperatures kept us moving. And it wasn't even officially winter for another 12 hours! :-)

Summitted with SP'ers Brad Snider and John Clements after numbing climb through vicious wind. (John's summit log phrasing is testimony to standard 'climbers' understatement' and the fact that, well, he's tougher than me.) Typing this I still have some residual numbness in the tips of my fingers. Thanks to John and Brad for pushing upward. SP'er Denali20K took an equally wise decision and turned back near the saddle because of the wind. He (Stuart) was the real hero of the day, waiting at the cars to see us safely down and meeting us there with Christmas cookies and beer that he'd brought up.

Snowshoed to the saddle, tapped Peerless, booted up to the summit after Brad Snider. High winds, cloudy, not much view. Didn't think we were going to make it but Brad pressed on. NOTICE: Summit register removed, cap broken.
