Huascarán right before dawn, from Chopicalqui high camp

We had tried for Chopicalqui earlier, but there was no trail, and finding the route in the darkness of the night proved to be very time difficult. We figured we could wait until dawn and try again, but we would most likely not have enough daylight to make the summit and get back down, especially since we had no more food to stay another night at high camp. And so we found ourselves back at high camp at the crack of dawn. 5 July 2011.
