One tough mother
My wife Penelope and I approached Granite Peak via the Huckleberry Creek last August 2016. One tough approach. We braved the bushwack and several (large) boulder fields on our way to Avalanche Lake. The approach is a bit similar to the infamous George Creek struggle to the High Sierra Mt Williamson and Carl Heller peaks. To top it all of, we got hit by a strong late August snow storm at the Lake and had to give up our attempt. We hoped to do the Granite Peaks Traverse and brought all our rock climbing gear. The area looks fantastic, there are other things to climb beside Granite as well. It is just a tough going, even for people much younger than we are. But, we will be back...
