Seven Summit Huron Pk on 9-28-2016
I was the third of seven climbers (plus one dog) to summit Huron Peak on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. There was a rock with name of mountain on it in black marker; no summit registry. Five of seven were women. Climbers were from Texas, Colo Springs, Montrose CO, Westminster CO, Montana, and Arvada CO. Spectacular fall climb. Notable wildlife: Big Coyote above timberline; and snowshoe hare at trailhead area. Ample dispersed camping was available. Awesome aspen color enroute to trailhead on County Rd 390.

NW Slopes
Climbed with Mary. One of the nicest 14ers I've done so far. We waited in the trees for an isolated storm that passed over at around 7AM, and then had great weather for the rest of the trip.

Snow
14,010 ft. Huron Peak -- Started at 6:30 AM from the 4WD trailhead, ascended the standard route which started out with many switchbacks until we reached a large snow filled basin. We had a good view of the rest of the route from here. We ascended through snow up the ridge to the summit. Made summit around noon. Round trip approx 7 miles, made it back to the trailhead around 3:30PM. The snow ascent made it a much more strenuous hike than it would have been under dry summer conditions. Had amazing weather and amazing views almost all day!
Great weather, views, trail, summit. Best of the Sawatch hikes we have done. Higher clearance 2wd can make it to high TH. Forge ahead!

Beautiful hike
One of my first 14ers - Huron Peak is definitely my favorite of the "easy" 14ers!

Underrated.
What a great 14er. It's not overly strenuous and is very beautiful.

Easy summit
We started from the 4WD trailhead, which cut off 3.5 miles RT. Lots of wildflowers above treeline. About 50 feet shy of the summit, we heard our first rumble of thunder, so we only stayed on top for 3-4 pictures, and got down below the ridgeline quickly. Fortunately, the thunder died down, and we made it back down to the TH before steady rain came.

Huron
Up and down quickly after camping in the valley with rkymtn.
First one up and down the mountain today, of course I started at 2:30 am. My first sunrise above 14k (barely, but it counts)! Wanted to beat the oncoming thunderstorms so I decided to catch the sunrise and although it was cloudy, it was great! Woods are spooky by oneself and with no moon. The scenery on the descent was gorgeous - wildflowers are blooming everywhere! Didn't even see a single thundercloud. Guess I beat 'em!
