Sometimes our best friend quickly turns into our worst enemy.
Summit of Mount Neva (12,814 feet | 3906 meters) after an ascent of the lovely Juliet Couloir...and after things went sideways. My GPS clocked me going 17 mph / 28 kph during this incident.

Re: Ouch!

Steve,

It took *only* four stitches to seal this one up. I didn't even feel it! I got to the bottom of the slope and was confused about why there was blood in the snow. I thought it was from another climber who had a bunch of rotten snow give way under him, hurtling HIM down a slope. It was a fun day!

At the end of the day, you can't beat mother nature. She has the last say!

Re: Geeez

Yeah, this served as a good reminder that ax = sharp! I will approach steep terrain with a bit more caution in the future. Maybe. ;)
