Iceland

Iceland

This classic climb, the Grafarfoss, is 65 m high (3rd to 4th grade). It’s located about a 20 minute drive from Reykjavik with a 30 minute easy approach. It was a fantastic climb, despite the snow storm! (which by the way, the Icelandic people consider a “perfect day”)

Re: Brrrrrrrrrr ...

Ha! You Arizona chicken! For me, Iceland was warmer than Canada. It was only around freezing the whole time we were there.

Re: Brrrrrrrrrr ...

Locals in Reykjavik told us that there are two kinds of weather there, rain and horizontal rain.

Re: Brrrrrrrrrr ...

You are so right! And, the locals consider that normal. One day it was pouring rain with ice pellets with the wind howling and I asked a lady in a shop if the weather was to remain bad for the rest of the day..she looked confused and said..what bad weather?

Ah, but the locals

seemed to spend their free time strolling from one liquor-shots counter to another, and lighting up in between :) I would call them bars but they were really more like counters in grocery stores and delis, where the booze is sold by the shot. That stuff might keep 'em warm, sure.

I need to return as a tourist at some point, thanks for reminding me :) Business trip is all nice but it skips the backcountry!

Re: Is that?

I don't know if you could call blizzard conditions a PICNIC! It looks MORE like a
"stopover" for a jolly old elf in a red suit
for drinking several glasses of rum & eggnog!!!

Re: Is that?

We were assuming you could endure at least one (more) shot of your favorite beverage.

Re: Is that?

Yes, but Sylva really has some outstanding images, paticularly from Iceland.
