Iliniza Sur - Direct Route

The crux of the route was near the center of the picture, passing the rock band in the bottleneck. The good snow coverage made the route safe from rock fall but signs of avalanche that happened 2 days prior to our ascent were present. We climbed the route and took this picture on Jan 20th, 2009....descended the same way.
