Breidden Hill from Severn House

Breidden Hill from Severn House

This rather sad view of Breidden Hill when seen from near the farm of Severn House shows how the quarry workings here have scarred the cliff face. The quarry is for basalt used primarily for railway balast and type-1 roadstone as it is called. It is a crying shame really what damage modern day industry can do to such a lovely natural feature of our countryside...!
