Imperial Valley View of the Jacumba Mountains

I shot this image of the Jacumba Mountains, CA, from Imperial Valley as heavily moisture-laden clouds approached from over the Pacific, and an Arctic blast arrived from the north. In an area that averages only three inches of rainfall annually, it's unusual to see such a combination of weather events. The tall, scattered bushes are Ocotillos. The coming rains will cause their leaves to sprout forth for a few days. Imaged in December 2009.
