Independence Benchmark
Started at the beginning of the Jeep road. Slogged up the road in the snow to the base of Peak 8262. Did Peak 8262 first then onto Independence BM. A fair of post holing along the way. Awesome views of Hole in the Mountain Peak.

Once again...
Ken Jones and I had bagged Goose Creek Range HP in NW Utah earlier and drove the 100 miles to Wells with plenty of time left in the day so Ken needed this one and I agreed to accompany him. He drove his vehicle up the gnarly jeep road to the saddle at 7500' and then we hiked from there to the summit. No wild horses this time but 90 degree heat made it a bit nasty. Two ticks tried to hitchhike on me but at least the count was down from 7 of two weeks prior.
Note: I returned to the trailhead with three others in dec. 2012. They were Dennis Poulin, Victor Zhou and Brett Hathaway.
I stayed at my vehicle and read a book as I really didn't need a 3rd summit and I was just getting over having the flu the week before.

This was a great hike and perfect for Oquirrh. Too bad the tranny went out in the Jimmy on this trip, but luckily we had Dean there to give us a lift to the mountain.

From the west
Sp members Greg and Kadee accompanied me on our quest to find the way to the top of this very obscure prominence peak near Wells Nevada. In the register over an 8 year period, only two other peakbaggers were signed in. We were the first in 5 years.
