Iron Mountain Trail
Nice easy hike. Bit of a foggy day but views still outstanding. Plenty of folks on the trail. Bring the water as this one has plenty of sun exposure.

Local Workout
This is where locals go to hike and get exercise on routine basis. Views from the top are outstanding with usual high visibility. Parking lot and bathrooms have been added.

Nice Hike
Peak #2 of my California thanksgiving vacation trip
Visiting a friend who just moved to San Diego. I've never been here, and she's never been hiking out here, so we took ourselves up this mountain to get the lay of the land. Easy, gradual trail, but pretty exposed, so I was glad to have lots of water. Looking west, you can just make out the ocean (mostly it was just lots of buildings). Gorgeous views up top looking east, though!

Iron Mountain Summit
Beautiful, dry, very hot in summer with a nice view from the top. Not nearly as many people as Cowles Mountain. No water anywhere to be found. Having climbed it many times now, I used this mountain as part of my training this year for Mount Adams / Mount Rainier climbs in the Cascades.
I have been hiking on the trail for the last 20+ years. Its a great, fun hike. I used to use it as a trail running workout, but now mainly just hike it on occasion. It can be pretty hot in the summer so bring water. One note, since the improvements in the parking lot, the trail has become much more crowded

Iron Mountain Trail
Maybe the busiest trail I have ever been on. Should have brought headphones. I probably stayed at the top for 10 seconds.

Night hike
If you don't enjoy crowds or heat, hike this trail at night. Especially fun during a full moon.

Headphones and shopping malls
I did a few training runs while on vacation in Ramona on this mountain. It was great once I got off of the main trail to the summit. However the main trail is clogged by folks wearing headphones and walking around like they're in a shopping mall (e.g. no eye contact and complete shock when you say hi!)

Iron Mountain
I wouldn't climb it again, way too crowded. It looked like I was on a pilgrimage with the amount of people.

Woodson and Iron
Climbed both peaks in one day. Iron mountain is a nice and easy hike up to the summit, but most of the trail is exposed with sparse vegetation. Trailhead parking used to get pretty crowded along the road, but they just opened up a new parking lot.
