PeacefulI am surprised that you encountered no wind, people, nor animals. During my winter stay within the Park virtually every day was quite windy and there were always coyotes sweeping through my camp in the evening. This picture really captures the quiet solitude that can be found in the outback of Joshua Tree.

Re: PeacefulI realize most people head to Joshua for the rock climbing. But I go more for the back packing and solitude. So I usually try for the less beaten path locations.
