Went up the east ridge route on Italian, then traversed to 12830 and went up American Flag before heading back down the road to where we parked, just below the Lily Pond trailhead.

Italian, Lambertson, UN 12830 & American Flag
Started near the top of the pass between Italian Mtn and American Flag Mtn after 9 long miles of 4WD road (approached from Taylor Res side). Ascended Italian's east ridge, traversed to Lambertson & back (fun scrambling, but big loose stuff), continued on to 12830, and then finished up the day with American Flag Mountain. Yes there is a flag on American Flag Mtn and there is a 4WD road to the top (no I didn't use it).

Italian turned out to be a great outing. We had perfect weather as well. We hiked up the day before and set up camp in a nice meadow at around noon. Jim slept the whole day like usual and i hiked around the area and took some photos. The next day we awoke to another perfect day and did the climb. Nice views up there.

Climbed this one with Kane on a fantastic fall morning. This mountain was way better than expected in every way. A real nice looking mountain when seen from Lambertson that also provides some unique views of the "backside" of the Sawatch Range.
