Locked!I paid for accomodation at Altzomoni Lodge the night of 24 Aug. 2010, but when I arrived at the lodge, it was locked! It really upset my plans to hike up Iztaccihuatl, but I managed to get to 4400m before turning around and eventually getting a ride back to Amecameca from a passing tourist. When I asked the National Park why the lodge was closed in spite of them accepting my money and my reservation, I was told the lodge was locked! Beware if you plan to stay here.

Keys!We registered at the National Park office at a cost of 20 pesos per day per person and we also secured the night at the Altzomoni “lodge” for 20 pesos per person. We were given wristbands to prove we paid. We showed these at the Visitor Center at Paso de Cortes where we were given keys to the hut.
There was apparently some miscommunication. It makes me wonder if all the staff know the whole routine.
