Jägihorn panorama

Jägihorn (also called Jegihorn) is not a particularly prominent mountain. The summit (3206m) is on the left, the key saddle, directly on its right, is 3093m. From there, a long ridge eventually leads to Fletschhorn (3993m). However, despite its limited prominence, Jägihorn is quite a popular peak. The normal route is not really a climb but a steep and difficult hiking and scrambling route, possibly with snow high up early in the season, UIAA grade F+. It gains the summit from the left in this photo. After that, the easiest way up is by way of the Via Ferrata that climbs more or less straight up the face of the minor summit (±3150m) immediately right of the saddle, then descends to that saddle and finally gains the summit from the right. There used to be a high wire bridge above the saddle, but by September 2014 it had not been restored yet. And then there are several long bolted multi-pitch rock routes straight up the face of the Jägihorn, the easiest one being Alpendurst. 9 September 2014.
