Jan on the Brunegg Glacier, dwarfed by Bishorn

It's shortly before dawn as we are ascending the Brunegg Glacier, on our way to the Brunneghorn. The frequently climbed normal route to Bishorn doesn't get near this location, but instead ascends the Turtmann Glacier, the upper part of which is visible, coming from the right and leading all the way to the summit. It's rated F+. For the record, the somewhat pointy summit that appears to be the highest point is only 4135 m. At 4153 m, the flat dome to its right (and a bit further back) is the main summit. An interesting alternative would be the East ridge, on the right in this picture. It's a mixed climb, rated AD-. In the days before, when Jan and I were discussing various possibilities, we considered climbing Bishorn by this ridge and descending the normal route. 6 July 2014.
