Japan Alps Omote Ginza &　Ura　Ginza 4th day

10th Oct 2014 

Sugoroku koya ( 2550m / 7:00 AM ) - Mt. Sugoroku ( 2860m / 8:00 AM ? ) - Mt. Mitsumata Renge ( 2841m  ) - Mitsumata Sanso ( 2536m / 10:00 AM ) - Mt. Washiba ( 2924m/ 12:00 ) - Sugoroku koya ( 2550m / 16:30 PM)

Breakfast 5:30 AM
Lunch at Mitsumata Sanso 13:00 PM 
Dinner at Sugoroku 17:00 PM 

I made him wake up 10 min before the breakfast and we enjoyed early breakfast as usual. My pet told me that mountain hut in Japan remind him his school days in Japan. Yes. I think so too. Mountain hut is not so strict than school in Japan. However everyone eat same time and same place and  light is off after 9:00 pm. These kind of things reminds us school days in Japan. It seems that my pet has been accustomed to European way and he feel uncomfortable. However I feel something very nostalgic and comfortable only for few days. 

Below is typical hut breakfast in Japan. Miso soup, Rice, salmon, stewed vegetable, Japanese type of pickles, seaweed, green tea.  Very healthy!

After the breakfast, we packed the goods and left the part of goods at hut, because we will stay Sugoroku koya this night again. So today we no need to carry all the goods. My pet were extremely happy for this. Actually he brought quite a few unnecessary goods or clothing. Mine is still better than him. However I should have looked into more to reduce the weight of backpack. We expect to do our best to reduce backpack weight for future mountain trip.

We and young guy departed same time. However young guy was so fast and we let him go and asked him to wait at top of Sugoroku. It takes approx 1 hour from hut to top of Mt. Sugoroku. I have stayed Sugoroku koya 8 years ago. However I don't remember why I didn't go to the top of Mt. Sugoroku. Mt. Sugoroku is very flat and similar to UK mountain. We have met the girl we have chatted yesterday. We enjoyed top of the Mt. Sugoroku and took photo. It was very enjoyable moment.








Ontake, Norikura, Yake dake ( from the right ). There are all volcano. Mt. Ontake erupted 2 weeks ago on this date.




After enjoying top of Mt. Sugoroku, everyone has gone to each destination. I and my pet has departed to Mt. Washiba. Young guy has gone down because he have to return his work. Young girl has departed to Mt. Yari. She was going up to the same way we walked yesterday. Good luck for everyone.

It was very bright nice morning and I felt so nice for walking. I really like nice & quiet morning. Actually almost nobody on this route.


We walked through the route via Mt. Mitsumata renge. We realized we climbed up to the Mt. Mitsumata renge when we arrived at top. On the top of this mountain, we met the men who was going to Mt. Washiba too. 

After descending half an hour, we arrived at another hut which is called " Mitsumata Sanso". This hut is located at the bottom of Mt. Washiba. They were drying bedding at outside. We took a rest and ate sweets to get enough power for climbing Mt. Washiba. It looks like a little bit steep for me.

This hut provide water with free of charge. We enjoyed nice mountain water and canned fruit juice. Also the men who we met at Mt. Mitsumata Renge joined us and enjoyed chatting. He has already retired and he was engineer at one of very famous Japanese company. He is very keen in doing very properly because of his carrier at that company. He prepared very precise map and told us that Trekking had started when you decided to go and preparation is very important. Yes. this is true.

After pleasant rest, we departed for Mt. Washiba.




Top is the men we have just met. My pet followed him. He only has very minimum goods. Actually I carried his food in my bag. This is not so correct indeed.




The trekking route to Summit of Mt. Washiba is not required special skill. Just need to climb rocky & Steep route. We can see the hut very far away.




Clouds were coming up from the bottom. Normally there are not so much clouds early in the morning in Japan. However clouds is slowly coming up in the afternoon.




Now the hut is very far away! is it very difficult to find.

This is the summit of Mt. Washiba.
Actually Washiba is very nice mountain. This mountain has been selected as " 100 excellent mountains in Japan　（Actually I don't know what is the proper English translation. I just translated by myself. It seems that this book introduce 100 mountains in Japan.   " http://www.amazon.co.jp/Hyakumeizan-Japans-100-Mountain-Challenge-ebook/dp/B00FIJSSQG/ref=dp_kinw_strp_1 I have just bought this book as kindle version. I look forward reading this.

Very nice weather and everything is perfect for me. Feeling very good.




After completing Washiba, we have been back to the hut and enjoyed lunch. This is called Omuraice ! M is the Mitsumata Sanso's " M ".


We don't know how many types of Mt. Yari we saw on this trip. Hello again. Shape is different from the place we see. 










Arrived Sugoroku koya again!



Today's room. Room has been changed. It seems that there are not so many people on the day and we ( I and my pet ) occupied this room by ourselves. This is very lucky ! Also thank you very much Sugoroku Staff. This mountain hut staff were very nice and kind and helpful. I would like to come back again this hut.

These are called " Futon " which is very traditional Japan's kind of mattress.



Today's dinner ! This day is 2nd night for us. So Sugoroku staff changed our dinner!
Middle is Miso soup, Miso stewed fish, Rice, pumpkin salada, Oden ! Very very traditional home food. Especially I enjoyed Oden !

Also we chatted with the man who entered in this area 25th SEP. This day was 10th OCT. So he has been walking in the mountain nearly 2 weeks ! I wish walk in mountain like him.
