Jersey tiger

Jersey tiger

Jersey tiger (Euplagia quadripunctaria - polish: Krasopani hera) is a large butterfly with characteristic color patterns. In the Low Beskid it can be seen only from July to September and it is extremely rare.

Adult butterflies feed on nectar of thistles, and caterpillars mainly eat nettles and leaves of shrubs, including raspberries.

They like moist, but also very sunny places. In Poland, this butterfly is under strict protection.

After years of wandering, we finally saw them for the first time ever.
