Funny Thing

The funny thing is I don't think JPII - who was an avid hiker, skier and outdoor enthusiast - liked the idea of erecting his memorials, no matter how they look, at all. I believe a plaque on a humble, low-lying native block of sandstone would be much more appropriate.

Re: Funny Thing

I agree. I am also a real admirer of JP2 and all he did, but I am allergic to all this chauvinism stuf about the fact he was Polish. Everywhere now in Poland are "JP2's trails" or memorials: on Babia, on Luban, in Chocholowska...
This is a good idea since he was a fervent mountain lover and I like the idea, which show a bit the man behind the pope; but as you say a smaller one would be perhaps more appropriate.

Re: Funny Thing

But this time it looks like it's the Slovak Catholics who should go to confession :))
