Kearsarge Lakes

Kearsarge Lakes

BOLD TEXT HERE Rarely does one find in one photograph an archtypical depiction of an entire area; but I believe this photo doea it! This is located in the Southern Sierra Nevada, just over Kearsarge Pass, and is a true High Sierra lake, sitting at about 11,100 feet, in the bowl of a huge Glacial Cirque, at the foot of 13,632 ft University Peak. University Peak also reflects the Sierras' long association with UC Berkeley, from which my grandfather, and Joe LeConte and so many others first began to explore the range in the late 1890's.
