on your "quasi" speed ascent! I would have gotten AMS for sure. How did your brother fare?

He and my sister in law did get sick but still summitted. They actually passed Kibo without their guide, who was way behind and got called back by the rangers and had to decend 1,000' to wait for their guide, sucks. As for me, I attribute the "quasi"ness along with recognising in myself the very start of AMS and taking it easy until it passes (this recognitionn of early "pre-symptoms" may come with repeated trips to high altitude (over 18,500)). There may also be something in getting to the top and part way down Quickly, before your body reacts to altitude? I have heard this but am not to sure myself. Also good physical training lessens your exertion, which helps with AMS. Thanks for commenting.
