Kings River

Kings River

The Kings River Drainage lies only 4.5 miles away but over 8,200 feet below the summit of Spanish Mountain, making Kings Canyon the deepest in North America.

What a drop!

(...Or climb!) Many years ago, I became fascinated with the idea of climbing Spanish Mtn. via Deer Ridge from the river junction. My friends thought I was crazy (they were right). Sadly (or maybe luckily) my plans never came to fruition. Too bad, it would have been epic. Love this shot, mrchad.

Re: What a drop!

Haha! You and I have had the same thought! I've wanted to do noteworthy things at times, and climbing out of the deepest canyon in the US would certainly count. Luckily (yes luckily) the river was impossible to cross when I've been down to it from Yucca Point. No doubt the buchwack up the ridge would be mightily unpleasant!

Thanks for the comment too.
