I gave this route a try in July of 2012. About 6 1/2 hours into the day I was just rounding the big east ridge of Rueter Peak. I figured I had at least 3 or 4 hours to go to the summit so I decided to waive the white flag. I think that I was traversing 500-100 feet too high on the mountain. All I can say about this route is that it's just really, really BIG.
I ended up salvaging the day by ascending the beautiful class 3 east ridge of Reuter Peak. It turned out that no one had signed the summit register up there since 2009, so that gave my ego a bit of a reboot.
If I ever try to day hike Kinta again I think I'm gonna go out there in September when the Akokola drainage is as dry as possible and approach by just going straight up the creek bed.
