Greetings from Arizona! If you found a Ptarmagan here, you could roast it with a side order of Reindeer moss. The oil from the Icelandic sheep makes a good firestarter. Looks like a desolate country! Are you very close to the ocean, from here?

Re: Greetings from Arizona!Hi there! Thannks for the info, next time I'm up there I'll be sure to give it a go, although I think I might have a little trouble finding the sheep oil, the area where this photo was take is called Oraefi, which basically means wasteland, no sheep even!
This photo was taken not too far away from the sea, only about 4 or 5 miles to the south I think. You could certainly feel the wind blowing in off it!

Yes, exposure anddehydration. Have to have a SHIELD from the wind! Your photo LOOKS like something out of "MAN vs WILD" on the Discovery Channel! Maybe somebody should attempt transplanting some Reindeer over there. I know they have Ptarmagan out there, somewhere. Looks like a wild place!

Re: Yes, exposure andyep its a pretty desolate place. Actually there are reindeer, or at least deer, in Iceland which were bought there by the Vikings. They mostly live in the remote central region though and are quite rare. If you’re interested, I'm slowly writing an area page for the Skaftafell Area, hopefully it should be full of interesting info about this part of Iceland.
Cheers
