I would guess seasonal. More than once I've been surprised to find run-down and apparently abandoned areas occupied and in full swing at a different time of year.
We were told that the Samis don't use this type of remote housing any more and now they live in town and use ATVs or other means to get to their herds.

Interesting.This is an area I really want to visit.
Any idea why the Sami village was deserted? Is this a seasonal thing?
