La Demoiselle Coiffee

This is a very beautiful example of sand tower, because it stands alone (usually such formations are in groups) and it's quite big. These towers are created when a more solid rock (the cap) covers friable sedimentary rock, protecting it from being washed away by rain. April 27th, 2014.
