Great Day  Sucess!

Cannot remember offhand the exact date of climb, but it was late summer. The ascent from Refuge Dents Du Midi up the Dents Jaune is a very satisfying summit. Its not as physically spending having rested well the night before and have the base of the tooth only 3-4 hundered meters away over the glacier, which is also fun to cross. My partner and I had crossed over only 2 crevasses that I considered potentially dangerous. THere are others i'm sure, but we had only encountered 2. The rock is pretty solid 90% of the way. There are a few sections with very large braking flakes and chunks. Coming down off the tooth we had dislodged a rock about the size of a truck tire... it cruised out over the glacier with humbling force. The descent is more challenging than the ascent, in the sense of working your way down to fixed pitons or finding them. The slope of the major ramp requires one to really lean away.

Fantastic day, long walk back to Champery, but it was beautiful.
