With Megan and Katie, both 10. Their first 14er!
Nice hike via Ellingwood Ridge
Not a drop of rain with a 70% chance. This was a great hike.
Ellingwood ridge. Parking lot to Summit in 6h30min. Down the standard route.
14er #2 this year.
Great variety of terrain, beautiful views through the entire hike!
Great day on the mountain. Climbed Solo
NW Ridge from CO-82. Nice aspens, especially across the way on Elbert and Lackawanna.
Fantastic February day and a windless summit. Spent 1.5 hours on Summit enjoying the views.
Not just a talus hump.
Clear day no wind - Standard route with Will - great day to climb a Colorado top 10
Headed that way to watch the USA pro Challenge bike race as they climbed Indy Pass. Decided to do a fourteener on the same trip, camped and the trailhead, did the peak in 5 1/2 hours then rode the bike to Independence pass to catch the KOM race.
Perfect weather. I didn't see a soul. Last register was signed two days ago. About four false summits are a challenge to morale.
Pretty nice day heading up from the West Winfield trailhead. The basin was a little boggy in the willows, but other than that pretty easy, and enjoyable hike.
Standard route up La Plata. Colorado 14er #30 for me!
Three attempts, first with my Father [stormed off], second and most harrowing experience with hypothermia in the company of Richard W. [who was the reason I survived the experience] and the successful third with my Father.
3rd ascent in 3rd different season for this one. This time with a ski descent, which was fine except for the exit in the trees which were getting really soupy, still a ton of snow up there! climbed/skied with Sam and Eric.
Got a late start and although we made great time on the approach the snow covered talus slowed us down after the alpine headwall on the NW ridge route(with a winter variation). Hopefully be back to tackle this bad boy via the Ellingwood ridge this summer.
