No better image to epitomise the current trend towards "snowless Alps" - the small triangular face of the higher summit shown in this picture (the north face of Punta Delle Sengie) was covered, until less than 15 years ago, by a steep snow slope, and made a very good ice route of moderate difficulty even in summer. Now, is a slabby wall covered by gravel and moving rocks, dry as a Martini :(
