The 32 frames which resulted in this panorama were shot at about 5 pm on 26 June 2013...thoroughly lucking out with visibility and a nice smattering of clouds for drama. Over the ensuing 6+ months, I used personal knowledge and a combination of Peakfinder.com, Peakbagger.com and DeLorme Topo USA to identify 450 place names...mostly peaks. A few of these labels required up to a 1/2-hour each to achieve confidence in ID. From the highest point around, it's the ultimate 3-D puzzle to solve. 100 of the least significant labels were removed to facilitate clarity. More months were spent photo-editing with Paint Shop Pro8 to achieve the result, since this was never planned in the first place (ie, hand-held, a wannabe DSLR, etc.)...but friends made me do it!
