Re: Respect!!I have a question about those lakes: were they always there, or do they exist only since recent years? Because on a photo that was taken some years ago from exactly the same spot, facing exactly the same direction, I can't remember seeing any lakes, and I've heard that also in the Himalaya the glaciers are melting at a tremendous rate and this is causing severe ecological problems in Nepal!

Re: Respect!!All the lakes appears in my map of november 1997 (updated). I think the lakes have a lot of years. I saw a lot of images of the "sacred lakes of Gokyo in Nepal" and some are very old.
The new lakes appears in the glacier as Ngozumba (below on left in the picture). In this moment the route to cross from Gokyo to Cho La Pass in maps of '90 is not valid because it have a lot of small and dangerous lakes. it's nor possible to cross from the first lake to Dragnag. You must walk a new route at NW directly from Gokyo.
