Dominance?

Who made up that word for that measure? It sounds dumb to me. Is it just because it rhymes with prominence? What is the mountain dominating?

Re: Dominance?

Ask your buddy Eric Noel. He made me privy to that particular prominence/peakbagging term. I had never heard of it prior to summiting Anderson Mountain several weeks ago. But Larch Mountain appears to be an example where the term can be used.

Re: Dominance?

Dominance is just dumbinance to me. I'll "have a little talk" with Eric. And to think he has a degree in English. :)

A measure of a peak's ratio of prominence to elevation does not shout "dominance" to me. A high percantage of P/E doesn't equate to any sort of dominance. Although I agree the P/E value should have a name, "dominance" is too much of a stretch.

Nice Page

You did a big job on this page for such a small peak. Well done!

Cheers Josh Lewis.
