What agreat picture! The scene is very dramatic. I too have had the pleasure of traveling this trail in winter -- it was one of my favorite trips.

Re: But where is it?The Star Lake Trail ascends the east side of Mt. Adams, starting from Star Lake (at the col between Mts. Madison and Adams). IMO, it's more scenic and fun (with scrambling/moderate angle snow) than the more popular Airline Trail. Especially fun in winter.
