thanks for the comment! it was quite a nice day. And the rare NM summit registers (typically a little glass jar with a rusted lid) are quite a change from the heavy-duty PVC pipes found in CO.
I seem to remember the road being in pretty good shape when we went, but I was in a high-clearance 4WD so really didn't pay too much attention. I seem to remember some water bars that would make it tough for a passenger car, but I think it could be done if you're very careful. I'd call the forest ranger office to check on current conditions before you go. I do also remember several low clearance cars parked at the bottom of 134A. Have a great trip; it's a beautiful place!
I don't recall seeing a whole lot of wildlife on this day other than the lone goat in one of the photos of this TR. But in general I see a reasonable amount of wildlife (especially bighorn sheep) above treeline in the NM Sangres.
Latir Peak, Cabresto Peak, Cabresto Sur Este, Venado Peak and Virsylvia Peak were all deleted recently. If you have pics for them (which you certainly have some) you ought to consider adding new versions of those pages. Good trip report, by the way. I love that area.
Do you know why the pages were deleted? I'd love to make new pages for all these peaks but the reality is it will take a long time for me to get to that, so if somebody else is interested, they should do it!

Cool TPI am thinking about tagging all of these this summer. How is the road to Cabresto Lake? Can a Ford Taruas make it?
