Laurel Gap Shelter

The Laurel Gap Shelter (taken in 1974). This shelter may be the last one with the chain link intact. It was due to be removed this past year, but I've heard this has not been done.

Maybe not the last

I think the shelter at Silers Bald had the chain screen intact when I was there this past October, but I won't swear to it. The gate was open, and a couple was inside, so I didn't get too nosy!

Could be! The ranger I spoke to recently told me that the last shelter slated to have the chain link removed was Laurel Gap. I've been told by folk up there the past few months that the link was still there.
