Success amid doubt  Sucess!

Hot day! Started from La Parva bike-park (bottom of Piuquenes lift just above town) ~8:30am. Hiked trails/4x4roads following lift to a mild pass, cut left at saddle ascending Falsa Parva, then on the broadening ridge northerly to the left of some peaks including Cerro Pintor. Long and wide-open mild grade up & down, no escape from the violent sun until the ridge scramble approaching Leonera. Some mild exposure but mostly cake & fun. Feeling significant altitude effects, just about turned back up at the moon rocks (piedras lunares) until another hiker Hernán said "I'll go for it if you go", so we went 90+ minutes more to the summit ~3:30. (Snowmelt water available just prior to final ascent.) Brutal descent, steep, variable rock surfaces, some glissading, some horribly unfun steep surfaces. Back to bike-park ~7:30pm, hike out longer & more tedious than expected. Cell service until a few km beyond Falsa Parva. Don't take my tone the wrong way, awesome hike, but a very long & taxing single day with altitude susceptibility & blistering sun exposure. Good times Hernán!

Normal Route  Sucess!

Easy access and nice mountain. Did it as acclimatization just before Cerro El Plomo. Not much snow left except for the last maybe 150m (vertically) so no crampons or ice axe were necessary. As described it was very windy and pretty cold even though in Santiago they were around 25C degrees.

Normal (via Cancha de Carreras)

Quick acclimatization tour for my DGPS survey of Cerro del Plomo (5432m), together with Alex Koller (Pucon, Chile).

Normal Route  Sucess!

Another warm-up climb for Aconcagua. Great views from the top. Very windy. Great climb close to Santiago, although I liked Cerro Plomo better.

My second mountaneering experience. Enjoyed the climb, but got exhausted from high altitude.
