Great...

Nice report. Do you know what the elevation gain difference is between starting at the White River campground or going up Burroughs Mtn to St Elmo's pass from Sunrise?

Re: Great...

Thanks! Starting at Sunrise gives about a 2000-foot elevation advantage, but from what I read this advantage is mostly lost due to routefinding issues. Since this was my first time on this mountain I really can't verify or deny whether this is actually true.

Nice one!

Great TR. Oddly my buddy and were on Rainier too at the same time as you, expect we took the more relaxing DC route. I'll have to work up to the Liberty Ridge. Looks amazing (and far less busy)! Too bad the stubborn cloud moved in, I bet pics from that 60 degree slope looking down the entire mountain would have been awesome.

Re: Nice one!

Wow, small world - would have been something to run into you up there. You guys must have summited on our approach day, which was an outstanding day. I kept looking up at the sky thinking 'if that will just hold out 1 more day', but it wasn't to be... It was still a great climb though, despite the limited visibility. And like you said, a far less busy route!
