Thank you very much desainme!

That POTW must be a joke - somebody with the connections must be into that sort of thing ;)

Yeah, it's a nice area. The side canyon behind Lighthouse/Big Bend Butte looks like it's pretty small though (looking at the topozone map). But there might be ways to top out on the main cliff (mesa?) as well as stuff in other side canyons to explore.

Thank you for the good vote Scott!

BTW, I took my Arches & Canyonlands towers out of La Sal group. Do you think we should have a separate grouping for "Moab Area Towers"....or "Colorado Plateau Towers" or something else? Or is it too wide, too vague??

thanks Scott.

Hi Lolli,

Have not done anything alpine there. The LaSal's that overlook Castle Valley etc.. look quite beautiful. There's quite a few here on SP (left margin of the page lists them). Post a info. request on the SW US message borad here on SP and I'm sure there's lots of folks who've done tons of stuff there and can help you better.

For hikes.....If you're looking for just a relaxing 1/2 day hike, I'd highly recommend hiking up to the base of The Priest - or at least as far as the saddle between Castleton and The Rectory. Amazing views of Castle Valley as well as Fishers Towers. Also, did only 1 trip into Canyonlands but that was unforgettable as well. I can imagine they have endless hiking opportunities. Some easy hikes in Arches are also quite beautiful (never really got deep into backcountry there though).

Good luck and enjoy the great area!

Sick man, Sick.

can't wait to climb in utah. I crave solid sandstone, much better than montana's eagle formation.

Eagle Formation in MT?? What is that (is it in any guidebook)? Sounds interesting.

the eagle sandstone formation is a mostly shitty layer of sandstone that appears at a certain elevation in central montana. check out this link http://formontana.net/tablerock.html
