Logjam In Mixed Mesic Forest

Log jams such as this one often provide the only way across Canyon without getting wet. The mixed forest visible in the photo shows subalpind fir, spruce, western hemlock and western red cedar. The big one standing alone downstream is a white pine that is probably 400 years old. July 2007
