Nice photoVery beautiful, and almost shocking when you know the cirque is within view of a major city. You can even heard the faint hum of rush hour traffic when standing in the cirque.

Re: Nice photoThanks, Scott. Lone Peak has always been one of my favorite mountains in the Wasatch. Everyone can see it from the valley but the cirque is a special place.

Re: Was going to ask youI've climbed Lone Peak several times but haven't done any technical routes on it yet. I would like to try the Open Book route. Question Mark Wall is really nice too.

Re: Was going to ask youOpen Book route was the first climb I did in the Lone Peak area in about 1982. When I was up there a lot of the area reminded me of being in the Wind Rivers Range in Wyo. I have done alot of alpine routes up there on 1000 ft . Ice apline ice 3 and 4. If you have never been to the Wind Rivers I recomend going up to those mountains.

Re: Was going to ask youI have been to the Wind Rivers before. I agree with you, Lone Peak Cirque has similiar high granite walls. The Wind Rivers are one of my favorite mountain ranges. I would like to climb there more often.

Re: Oh my!Thanks! This cirque has many multi-pitch trad climbs rated 5.4 to 5.12. It is a very beautiful place. The approach to get there is a little strenuous though.

That's mind-blowing !Who would want to ski down a perfectly
steep couloir? Probably the same caliber
of person who would want to jump out of
a perfectly good airplane! Hey, I just
answered my own question!!! Sweet.

Re: That's mind-blowing !Most skiers dream about skiing down a perfectly steep couloir. Isn't that what it's all about! The summit ridge of Lone Peak is very exposed so it isn't for the faint-hearted.
