Your trip report has really inspired me to do a winter ascent of the North Face route. It would be a blast but I don't think I would try to do it in one day... that sounds too brutal!
I'm going up this weekend, not quite winter, but definite snow and ice conditions. This definitely confirms the decision of doing it in 2 days. Great report!!
