Looking south at Mt. Superior.

This photo was taken from a higher point on the Cardiac Ridge looking south at Mt. Superior. Class 3 through 5 terrain was crossed to get to this point from the summit. Lots of broken loose scree, and lichen on the rock made the going slow. Video showing the traverse: Cardiac Ridge Traverse, Youtube.

That’s awesome

You got to do the traverse. It's probably not done often either. It looks like someone is standing on the summit of Superior in your photo. I think another neat traverse would be of the entire Reed and Benson Ridge which would be long but technically easier than Cardiac Ridge.

Re: That’s awesome

Thanks! Glad to have done it now. It seemed like similar exposure to the Sundial Peak scramble, though three times as long and having to check every hold. That rock reminds me of stacked crackers, fractured and brittle.

There were several people up on Superior and Monte while I was up there, someone was on Superior when this one was taken. I was blown away once getting to 10,820, looking down into Mineral Fork. Four wheelers all over the place, several all the way up to the Regulator Johnson mine. The forest service has Mineral Fork open to vehicular traffic right now.

Reed and Benson does look fun! Looks like the middle section could get interesting.
